Former Agricultural College student killed in Thailand

THE burnt remains of a former Royal Agricultural College student are believed to have been found in Thailand.

Now Toby Charnaud's parents are jetting out to the region to find out just what happened to their son who is thought have been killed by his ex-wife.

The remains were found in a plastic bag in a national park in Kaeng Krajan Dam and DNA tests are being carried out to determine whether the body is that of Mr Charnaud.

Toby's wife Panada Laoruang and two other members of her family have been arrested on suspicion of his murder.

He went missing on March 27 and his parents suspected for weeks that he had come to harm.

His mother, Sarah, said: "We have known the worst for some time but we are expecting definite news very shortly."

"We have heard that his ex-wife has been to the police and confessed to killing him and is presumably now in custody."

Toby's parents have hired a private detective to keep track of any developments in the case, who had lived in Thailand for five and a half years.

Toby, a former student at the Royal Agricultural College, was a qualified land agent and owned two bars in the resort of Hua Hin.

A spokesperson for the Royal Agricultural College said: "We are stunned to hear this tragic news about a well liked former student."

Toby married Panada almost eight years ago and was awarded sole custody of their son Daniel when they divorced two years ago.

His family have been frustrated by the lack of information and help they have received from the British officials and Thai police. They were certain from early on that something bad had happened to him.

Mrs Charnaud said: "He would never have gone off anywhere without communicating with Daniel or with us.

"It would have been totally out of character for him to just disappear."

She went on to say the family would be travelling out to the Far East as soon as the body has been recovered and legal preparations were already in the process of being sorted out.

Asked what she thought the reason for Toby's ex-wife murdering him may have been Mrs Charnaud suggested it could have been financially motivated
