Americans play Brits at football

YOUNG Americans from Nashaua in New Hampshire enjoyed all things British during a visit to the Cotswolds this week.

Not only did the U10s take on football teams in Northleach and Cirencester, they also tackled some traditional British school dinners as well.

The 15 children and their parents were taking part in a tour organised by an American 'soccer' company called Challenger Sports.

On Tuesday they took on budding young players at Northleach Primary School, who they beat 4-0, before being given a tour of the school and some lunch.

It was then down to Cirencester Town Football Club, where they won one game 3-0 but only managed a 2-2 draw in another.

Helen Malan, wife of organiser and CTFC youth coach Chris Malan, said: "It was a fantastic day - they said it was the best day ever, they really loved it.

"I think they felt they had got involved in the local community and not just done the tourism thing."

Yesterday the youngsters played Powell's Primary School before travelling down to Bath and then on to London, where they have tickets to a Premiership game.
