Cirencester and District Football League round-up

CHQ United are this season's Division One champions of the Cirencester and District League following the results of last weekend's fixtures.

The league leaders extended their advantage in mid-week with a 6-1 win at Golden Farm before beating Taverners to secure the title after close rivals Beeches slumped to a disappointing loss at South Cerney.

The Division Two title was also settled during the week when Bibury Reserves picked up the point they needed in a 2-1 win at CHQ Reserves.

At the other end of the table, Minety moved off the bottom with two mid-week wins over Nympsfield and Tetbury and a draw at RDS Reserves added another point to their tally.

Oakridge picked up a point to open up a three-point gap between themselves and the bottom spot.

CHQ Utd Res currently occupy the wooden spoon spot and, should things this stay, the club could have the unique honour of holding both the championship and the wooden spoon for the season.

Finally, Beeches had the consolation in mid-week of beating Oaksey 3-2 to reach the final of the Senior Charities Cup where they will face CHQ on Bank Holiday Monday.

Next weekend sees the final fixtures of the season with the league concluding on Saturday and the Charities Cup finals played on Monday.
