Faith is restored as the Robins beat Tranmere

AFTER searching all season for just a little bit of consistency, Swindon seem to have found some when they continued good form on the weekend, beating high-flying Tranmere 2-1 at the County Ground.

Indeed, it seems typical that the first signs of class that the Robins have shown for a good few months now have come since the play-offs have become practically unreachable.

On Saturday, it looked as though another defeat would be on the cards for Swindon when Ryan Taylor rifled in a superb free kick from 25 yards after 20 minutes.

However, an inspired second- half display saw the home side create some good opportunities.

And when Grant Smith scored with an equally impressive free kick to even up the scores on 57 minutes, it was very much 'game on'.

In fact, it took only a further two minutes for the Robins to snatch the winner, Rory Fallon threading an exquisite ball through the Tranmere backline for Smith to run on to and hammer home his tenth goal of the season.

Understandably, manager Andy King was delighted at full time and, of Grant Smith he said: "He has a habit of scoring in twos: he did it at Bradford. He seems to live on confidence and they were great goals."

This Saturday sees Swindon travelling north to face Hudders-field at the McCalpine Stadium.

The Terriers are currently in tenth place in League One, and so it should be a good game between two in-form sides.

Michael Pook looks likely to start again for Town after impressing on his debut at the weekend. But Sam Parkin will once again miss out as the striker is struggling to shake off an injury he picked up at Hull a few weeks ago.
