Charity fundraiser will be hot stuff

FUNDRAISERS from Cotswold District Council are hoping to curry favour with Cirencester residents all in aid of charity.

Bhavna Patel and Marie Whiteman hope their festival of Indian food and dance at Cirencester's Corn Hall will prove real hot stuff on Saturday.

And they are urging residents to turn out in their numbers to support the event, which is raising cash for the Cotswold Care Hospice.

Bhavna, whose family comes from India, originally started fundraising following inspiration from her late father.

And she has chosen a cancer charity for personal reasons.

She said: "My sister has bowel cancer and some of my friends at the council have had cancer as well.

"I work in the Cotswolds and wanted to give something back."

The dinner dance, which starts at 7.30pm and continues until midnight, will feature Bhangra and Western music from Birmingham-based Echos International.

Revellers will also be able to tuck into authentic Indian cuisine, followed English desserts.

Bhavna added: "A lot of Asian people will be coming - it will bring two cultures together.

"We're hoping to really liven up Cirencester."

Tickets, which are only available in advance, are £20.

Anyone interested in attending can contact Bhavna on 01285 623219 or Marie on 01285 623101.
