CORINIUM Cycling Club's ten-mile time trial at the weekend was won by recently returned star rider Jason Costello.
His time of 23min 12min is pretty good, especially as Cos-tello is still suffering the effects of a recent motoring accident.
A dry Easter Saturday greeted the 25 competitors preparing to tackle Corinium CC's second time trial of the season.
Ten of the riders came from the host club with a further 11 members on hand to help with the running of the event. The rest were made up of Swindon RC and two Swindon Wheelers riders.
Taking second place in the event was the evergreen Allan Norwood with a time of 24.14.
Third spot went to second-claim rider Brian Newton in 24.37, despite losing time with a chain derailment.
Other times are recorded as follows: Andy Smith 25.14, Andy Wilcox 25.28, Arja Scarsbrook 26.28 Callum Lister 26.29, Mark Sysum at 26.31, Stephen Chap-man 27.38 and Mike Appleby at 29.41.
The best of the Swindon brigade was Trevor Sherwood, an ever-improving rider, who timed at 23.48.
Race organiser Allan Norwood offers his sincere thanks to all the Corinium helpers, without whom the event could not have been held.
Next race, and also the first event in the club's solo ten- miles TT series, is tonight (Thursday) at 6.45pm sharp as lighting conditions may restrict the field.
All newcomers are welcome at the Cricket Pavilion in Ashton Keynes before or after the event.
This Sunday's club run to Cheney Manor Garden sets off from Cirencester Parish Church at 9.30am, with the faster ride departing for the same location 30 minutes later.
If any non-member would like to join in, please go along and make yourself known to the other Corinium members.
