HIGHWORTH Town's pursuit of the essential three points to continue their chance of a possible Hellenic Premier championship became a reality in a 3-1 win on a glorious spring day at Henley Town.
Playing on a pitch which assuredly had seen better days, although on Saturday it was little better than rolled mud, the Town moved into a two- goal lead by half-time.
Both goals were scored by Paul Cooper who demonstrated his high level of skill and ability.
The first came from an acrobatic overhead kick while his second was a screamer from outside the penalty box.
With such a lead, the second half appeared to be nothing more than a formality.
However, route-one football once again caused problems for the visitors.
A long ball through the middle, together with a challenge from the Henley striker, resulted in a 2-1 scoreline and the vision of problems in securing the necessary three points.
Once again, though, Phil Corcoran came to the rescue with a well-taken goal after a mazy run from Justin Miller had set up the chance.
The remainder of the game saw constant pressure from Highworth, but no improvement in their goal difference. Nonetheless, the requisite three points were in the bag.
This Saturday (1pm ko), Highworth entertain Hungerford and then visit Pewsey Vale on Easter Monday (3pm ko).
