CIRENCESTER and District Air Rifle and Pistol League secretary Tony Clack has told members that there there is likely to be four new trophies to compete for next season.
The 2005/2006 season, which will commences a little earlier than usual, is set to start at Corn Hall on Monday, September 19, at 8pm.
Paul Smith is to donate a new trophy to be fired for next season for all those aged 65 and over.
And Dave Hayward's new trophy will be fired for one of the present league competitions, renamed the Dave Hayward competition, as will the D J Franklin Trophy and the Paul Smith Trophy.
Most recent competition was the Ron Blackwell Cup, four cards of five shots plus each individual double handicap. For the second consecutive year, South Cerney's young Kit Franklin won with a score of 247 and was closely followed by Cirencester Vics' Frank Warner's team-mate, Elaine Sweetland, with 236.

Members please note the next six-yard session, and the last for this season, is next Monday, March 28. The Tony Clack Cup (two cards of five shots air rifle and two cards of five shots air pistol) is to be fired for, with each individual double handicap to be added to each total score. The League's annual presentations will be held in Down Ampney village hall on Saturday, May 7, at 7.30pm.
The League is saddened to hear of the death of Peter Ferris, a quiet, well mannered man who lived in Swindon and loved his shooting.
A member of the Swindon League for almost 50 years, many of them firing for the Vale of White Horse in Cricklade, he enjoyed the past two seasons shooting in the Cirencester League. He will be much missed by members of both Leagues.
