Cirencester and District Football League round-up

THE race for the Division One title in the Cirencester and District Football League looks as though it will go to the wire this season.

This time around, leaders Fairford lost to challengers Ashton Keynes while second placed CHQ United won 4-0 at Bibury.

Beeches move up to third place with a 10-0 demolition of struggling Corinium.

In Division 2, leaders Bibury were without a game, allowing the chasing pack, who all won, to close the gap although the leaders have games in hand over all of them.

Last Saturday's results are as follows:

Division 1: Corinium Sports 0, Beeches 10; Ashton Keynes 2, Fairford Tn A 0; Purton A 1, Eastcombe 4; Oaksey 4, Siddington 2; Bibury 0, CHQ Utd 4.

Division 2: South Cerney Res 1, Avonvale Utd 0; Tetbury Tn A 2, RDS Res 3; CHQ Utd Res 3, Minety Res 10; TC Exiles 1, Wanderers 3; Stratton Utd 1, Lechlade 5; Kingshill SC 2, Nympsfield 0.

FIXTURES

Friday, March 25: Mills-Roberts Cup semi-final at Bibury FC: CHQ Utd v Siddington, 11am ko.

Saturday, March 26 (ko 2.30pm):

Division 1: Purton A v Poulton, Golden Farm v Beeches, Corinium Sports v South Cerney, Bibury v Fairford Tn A, Oaksey v Eastcombe.

Division 2: TC Exiles v Stratton Utd, Tetbury Tn A v Bibury Res, Nympsfield v Oakridge, Wanderers v Avonvale Utd.

Monday, March 28 Mills-Roberts Cup semi-final: Eastcombe v South Cerney, 11am ko.

The draw for the semi-finals of the Charities Cups has been made as follows:

Senior Charities Cup: Beeches v Oaksey to be played at the Corinium Stadium on Wednesday, March 30, 7pm ko, CHQ United v Bibury.

Junior Charities Cup: Bibury Reserves v Lechlade, Kingshill SC v South Cerney Reserves. Other dates and venues to be advised.

The draw for the semi-finals of the Arthur Shipway Cup had been made as follows:

Monday, March 28: Stonehouse v Chalford at Slimbridge, kick off 4pm; Sunday, April 3: Malmesbury Vics v King's Stanley at Shortwood, kick-off 5pm.

The final is to be played at Cirencester Town's Corinium Stadium on Tuesday, May 3, 7pm ko.
