Chinese Ambassador visits Cotswolds

THE Chinese Ambassador to Great Britain visited the Cotswolds last Friday as a guest of MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown.

His Excellency Zha Pei Xin and his wife Zhang Xiaokang took in a full tour of the area on their trip including a look around the offices of Cotswold District Council as well as a short visit to the Royal Agricultural College.

The ambassador's trip to the Cotswolds was, at the personal invitation of Mr Clifton-Brown, enabled him to take a closer look at the workings of local government as well as providing an opportunity to find out about more about agriculture in the UK, an area of special interest to him.

During his visit to the Royal Agricultural College, the ambassador and Mr Clifton-Brown met with staff and students.

However the trip was not without controversy as the ambassador was later heckled by protesters on a school visit over China's record on animal welfare.
