Double act of songwriters performing in Marlborough

TWO of acoustic music's most captivating and innovative singer songwriters will be fusing their talents when they stop off at Marlborough Town Hall tonight (Thursday, March 3) on a rare UK tour.

Steve Knightly from Devon and Martyn Joseph from Wales are both award-winning musicians. As one half of the hugely popular Show of Hands (the other half is the Cotswolds' own Phil Beer), Knightly won the title Best Live Act in the 2004 BBC Radio 2 Folk awards while Joseph clinched the Best Male Artist title in the same year's BBC Welsh Music Awards.

Having met at the Greenbelt Festival, the pair went on to form the instantly popular Faith, Folk and Anarchy, together with Tom Robinson.

Now Steve and Martyn hit the road on The Songwriters' Tour, sharing the stage throughout, swapping each other's songs and joining forces on others.

Their often thought-provoking, sometimes mellow and occasionally light-hearted songs are punctuated with an easy rapport, witty banter and self-deprecating humour.

The Marlborough gig begins at 8pm. Telephone 01672 512465 for tickets. For more information log on to www.showofhands.co.uk or www.martynjoseph.com
