WHEN interviewed before his side's encounter with Doncaster Rovers at Belle View on Saturday, Swindon's Sammy Igoe commented:
"The important thing is to come back making sure that the two-point gap between both sides is still intact."
Igoe's thoughts bore fruition as his hopes were certainly attained as Town fought out a decent 1-1 draw.
A first half played at a furious pace saw the Robins take the lead on five minutes as Lee Holmes blasted in from 16 yards after good work from Sam Parkin.
However, Neil Roberts drilled in an equaliser for Rovers on 30 minutes, and both sides had to settle with a 1-1 score-line as they went in at half-time.
Doncaster pressure seemed to be order of a hectic second half as Swindon were forced to soak up a flood of attacks.
In fact, the Rovers' assault was punctuated only by a small spell of brightness from Town, which incorporated a powerful Grant Smith strike that smacked against an upright before bouncing to safety.
The final whistle was greeted with a sigh of relief from the travelling supporters, and there was an overwhelming feeling of the final score being a decent result against a surprisingly good Doncaster Rovers side.
After the match manager Andy King said: "It's a fantastic away point. You come to one of the hardest places in the league with another tremendous crowd.
"This place is buzzing at the moment, and we've got the draw against a very good side.
"In the first half, we deserved to be in front and should have got a second and a third, but we've given away a stupid goal as a result of our own mistake.
"We started playing in the wrong areas and, for the last 20 minutes of the first half, we had to hold out.
"In the second half, I have to say quite honestly that we rode our luck."
This Saturday sees the Robins take on sixth place Bournemouth at the County Ground, in a battle which, if they win, would see them leapfrog their opponents into the last play-off spot.
Bournemouth are on a great run of form, however, and with James Hayter currently scoring left, right and centre.
And Swindon will need to be on the top of their form if they wish to take anything from the game.
