Mozart Ensemble to provide music by candlelight

THE English Mozart Ensemble comes to the Subscription Rooms, Stroud on Friday, March 4 at 7.30pm to perform an atmospheric candle-lit concert.

This is the last in the Ensemble's celebrated winter tour. The programme will include Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major, K414, in an arrangement by the composer himself, and directed from the piano by director, Garth Hall.

The Ensemble will also be playing a selection of some of the most beautiful works by Saint-Saens, Walton, Bach and Schubert, and the haunting slow movement from Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No 2.

Also appearing will be David Le Page who is fast becoming recognised as one of the most exciting new violinists to hit the British concert stage. Garth Hall, as well as being a classical musician and director, is also musical director of the hit West End show, Chicago.

Tickets from the box office on 01453 760991.

When the Ensemble last visited Stroud in 2001, under its old name, the London Mozart Ensemble, their concert was a sell-out, so booking is essential.
