STITCH, the local young indie-rock band, caught the eye of the judges at the Undiscovered Youth concert in Stroud recently, and won the title of best band against some very stiff competition, including the winners of last year's title.
Among the judges were actor Kim Baker, local musician and songwriter David Rose and Steve Field, production manager of the Womad Festival.
Stitch played one of its most popular songs, Ocean Away, and won a cheque for £75, a 'gold' disc and a certificate to add to the trophy they won at last year's Fairford Festival.
Stitch is made up of guitarist and lead vocalist Joss Acock, backing vocalist and guitarist Ben Humphreys, bassist George Lawson and Seb Goffe on drums.
Their next concert is at Rendcomb College on March 5, as part of the school's Rock Night, and they hope to return to Cirencester's Corn Hall later in the year at the request of their many fans.
Meanwhile, they appear on the recently released Live at The Space CD, and also on the demo CD, Interlude, which they produced last year at Yellow Shark Studios in Cheltenham.
They will be putting their prize money towards more recording time so that they can get some of their newer songs laid down and sent to members of the music industry who are interested in their progress.
