DESPITE missing four regulars, United put together a fine effort on Saturday to comfortably win a game which, from manager Ivor Probert's point of view, was a six-pointer.
Mark Warriner returned to the heart of defence alongside Gary Probert, who returned from University to play, and Lee Clatworthy made his debut in goal with Mat Weslake missing his first game of the season.
United settled early nerves by taking the lead in the seventh minute.
Ian McSherry chipped a ball to Graham Robinson who headed into the path of Aidan Winney who drove the ball into the net from ten yards.
Adderbury, playing with the breeze, pressed and Clatworthy, who made a good save down low, was called upon to deal with a succession of corners.
Good work by Stuart Robinson saw him pass to brother Graham who shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
After the break, it was United's turn press, but they were unable to benefit from the chances they created.
Dan Bailey lifted a shot over the bar from an Ian McSherry cross and McSherry headed into the keeper's arms from Scott Burry's free kick.
A fine corner from McSherry was nodded over by Mark Warriner and Stuart Robinson shot over the bar after being set up by Aidan Winney.
Colin Curtis then replaced Mark Warriner and Ben and Dom Jackson came on for their first team debut.
It was Dom Jackson who made an immediate impact as he chased a through ball and forced the defender into an own goal. After this, United saw out the rest of the game to claim a vital victory.
This Saturday, the 1st team entertain Tytherington Rocks while the Reserves travel to Finchampstead, both 3pm ko's.
