Water Park welcomes Richard Mabey

ON Sunday, February 27 at 7pm, the Cotswold Water Park Society welcomes Richard Mabey, described by The Times as "Britain's greatest living nature writer."

He will be speaking at The Gateway Centre about his latest book, Nature Cure, which he wrote during and after a severe two-year depression.

The book charts Richard's gradual return to joyfulness through the restoring qualities of the natural world. It is a book of hope, not just for individuals but for the human race.

Richard Mabey's previous books include Food For Free, The Unofficial Countryside and The Common Ground, as well as Whistling in the Dark, his intensely personal study of the nightingale.

His biography of naturalist Gilbert White won the Whitbread Biography Award and his groundbreaking best-seller, Flora Britannica was a multi-prizewinner.

Nature Cure will be on sale during the event, in association with Ottakar's, Cirencester.

Tickets for this event must be booked in advance, either in person from the Gateway Centre, Spine Road, South Cerney, open seven days a week, 9am-5pm, from Jill Bewley on 01285 861459 or e-mail: events@waterpark.org

To reach the Gateway Centre, take the B4696 off the A419 between Cricklade and Cirencester (South Cerney, Cotswold Water Park Spine Road junction). The centre is the first building on the left with plenty of free parking.
