STRONG winds and flurries of snow failed to deter the five Corinium Cycling Club riders who departed from Cirencester's Parish Church on Sunday for the weekly run.
The group, which was accompanied by several riders from Swindon and Stroud, were later join by a quartet of hard riders who had set off from the same meeting point half-an-hour later.
Remarkably, three of the nine had successfully completed the tough 100km Cotswold Corker only the previous day.
Riding through Coates and Cherington, the party had to frequently traverse flooded roads as they meandered along lanes past Chavenage House.
The route eventually led them to an enjoyable elevenses stop at the welcoming Two Toads Cafe in Tetbury.
Here, the group divided for a wind-assisted return journey through Hankerton and, despite bad weather warnings, riders made it back to Cirencester in the dry after an enjoyable 40 miles.
The club wishes a speedy recovery to Fred Gardiner and Mark Sysum who suffered a heavy fall recently.
Next event on the club's calendar is tonight (Thursday) when Lew Lawton will be giving members an account of his Great Wall of China ride.
This Sunday's club run to Eastington is to set off from Cirencester's Parish Church at 9.30am.
The faster ride departs from the same location 30 minutes later. Any non-member wishing to join the group is cordially invited along.
