6th-sense motorsport team picks up first trophy

IN what was only their third rally together, Simon Clark and Stewart Darvil enjoyed a marvellous outing at Oakington Airfield in Cambridge - the first stage of the Oakington Championship and also the first championship that 6th-sense motorsport has entered.

Driver Clark and navigator and Darvil had last rallied together at Rockingham Racetrack back in December.

And they did rather well there by finishing 32nd overall and eighth in class - a fantastic achievement considering they were up against World Rally Cars.

After Rockingham, Bourton's intrepid duo decided it was time to spend money on carbon-fibre brakes and a new clutch.

This proved far more effective at the next rally, on January 9, as their stage times were becoming quicker with Clark having more confidence in the car's performance.

The car performed exceptionally well all day with the only hiccup a bad tyre choice on stage three which lost them valuable seconds as braking was hampered.

They started off 29th in the rally and finished eighth overall and third in class - and so 6th-sense motorsport had gained its first trophy.

Clark said, "It was our best ever day. Everything went right from start to finish and the car behaved perfectly".

The car is now being prepared ready for the next round at Oakington this Sunday where they hope to continue their winning ways!

6th-sense motorsport is looking to take part in several local rallies as well this year with the ultimate goal being to compete in the rounds of the BTRDA (British Rally) which the team knows will need a serious cash injection.
