TETBURY sixth formers proved science is fascinating and fun by conducting a series of colourful experiments on Wednesday.
They demonstrated how to burn a £5 note while keeping it intact, how fireworks change colour and how acid poured on thick sugar produced a rising thick column of charcoal.
The experiments were organised by the school's head of science Dan Fiddament.
He said: "Initially we planned to run one session but word has got round and many children throughout the school wanted to come and see the experiments.
"Even children who are normally put off the subject have told me how keen they were to come and see what it was all about."
The event was planned as a fun version of the BBC series of Royal Institution Christmas Lectures.
The school believed the experiments would bring science to life for pupils and help sixth formers with their presentation and practical skills.
