EastEnder Sid takes to the stage

FOR many years Sid Owen played Eastenders' Ricky Butcher, the luckless mechanic with the heart of gold.

This Christmas he plays another Richard - Dick Whittington in Bath Theatre Royal's excellent family pantomime, the true (well almost!) story of the Gloucestershire lad who goes to London to seek his fortune.

Taking the role of Sarah the Cook is Chris Harris, one of the country's leading dames and a great favourite with Bath audiences.

Royal Shakespeare Company actor Patrick Miller (who also plays Akili Johnson in Byker Grove) is the Ship's Captain while award-winning stand up comedian Jon Monie is Idle Jack.

King Rat is played by Mark Buffery who has appeared many times as the villain in pantomime with Chris Harris.

This great family entertainment runs until Sunday, January 23. Tickets from the box office on 01225 448844.
