FAIRFORD Town recorded a 2-1 win over their Headington hosts in the GLS Hellenic Supplemen-tary Cup preliminary round on Saturday, a goal from Kevin Coles making the difference between the two sides.
The first attack for the visitors came on seven minutes when a shot from John Devoille was tipped round a post by Harris.
Minutes later, Stratford could have opened the scoring, but scuffed his shot well wide of the right-hand post.
On a bumpy pitch, Town were presented with another golden opportunity on the half-hour, Jonjo Slattery managing to skew his shot wide after beating the offside trap.
After a goalless first half, Fairford boss Mark Webb made a tactical change with Stratford dropping back into defence and Neil Matthews moving up front.
The big front man then moved through just minutes later, but his shot fell straight into the keeper's arms. Further chances came with Devoille heading at the keeper after a good cross from Kevin Coles.
Fairford Town finally took the lead when Coles broke through and cleverly chipped the keeper on 68 minutes to put Webb's men in front.
The lead remained intact for just nine minutes when a breakaway by Cook saw the Heading-ton man turn John Joyce and chip the ball over the advancing Price. However, it was to be Fairford's day with a late winner coming from John Joyce.
A throw-in by Coles was headed down by Matthews and the ball fell to Joyce whose deflected shot beat the Amateurs keeper, ensuring Town of a place in the next round.
