Police tackle thieving rodent

A HUNGRY squirrel drove police nuts while causing havoc in an Evenlode house's garage.

Discovering items had been thrown around the garage, the house's male occupant called police to his home at 11.30am on Friday, December 10, because he feared an intruder was responsible.

Officers arrived to find the culprit had a twitchy nose and bushy tail rather than two arms and two legs.

A Stow-on-the-Wold police spokesman said: "Upon attending, the offender was identified as a squirrel after his Christmas nuts."
