Cirencester and District Football League round-up

AFTER Saturday's third round of the County Cup, Cirencester and District Football League is left without a single representation in the fourth round.

All of the six teams left had tough away draws, and the day got off to a bad start when Beeches were unable to raise a side and were forced to make a late withdrawal.

Of the other five, only Stratton Athletic and Golden Farm put up any sort of fight.

The former went down by the odd goal in three while Golden Farm took their opponents to extra time before being routed. The others were all well beaten.

In Division 1, four of the leading contenders for the title met head to head.

It was CHQ United, who boast the only unbeaten record in the league, who beat leaders Siddington 4-0 to move up to third while Fairford went back to the top with an 8-1 thrashing of fourth-placed South Cerney.

Oaksey moved up to third with a 7-1 win at home to Bibury.

With Division 2 leaders Bibury Reserves on County Cup duty, the three teams trailing in their wake all won to close the gap to four and six points but the leaders now have games in hand.
