Fairford are taking the ups and downs in their stride

HAVING enjoyed a good mid-week home league win against Abingdon United last week, Fairford then lost a close encounter away to high-flying Slimbridge on Saturday.

In the Wednesday evening Premier Division match, Abingdon looked well set for victory having established a 2-0 half-time lead.

With a goal from Marriott on 29th and a strike by Curtin just three minutes after the interval, the Cinder Lane hosts looked to be well out of it.

But Fairford battled back to reduce the deficit on 68 minutes through Lee Stoddart.

And a brace of goals for Hall, one in the 80th minute and the other on full time, gave Fairford what had looked an unlikely three points in a 3-2 victory.

Despite losing the services of top scorer Phil Corcoran, who has signed for Cirencester Town, Fairford put up an impressive display against a Slimbridge side looking for promotion.

In fact, it took a solitary goal, scored by Badham on 32 minutes, to separate the two sides.

Tuesday night's scheduled league game for Fairford, away to Bicester, was postponed.

For this Saturday's Glo'shire Senior Trophy tie, Fairford are away to an Almondsbury Town side being managed by former Liverpool star, Nicky Tanner.

And in next week's mid-week league fixture, Fairford are set to visit Hungerford Town.
