Fairford lose twice to Carterton in a four-day period

FAIRFORD Town suffered two defeats last week at the hands of the same opposition in a three-day period.

Despite two goals from prolific scorer Phil Corcoran, one right on half-time and the other on the hour, Fairford lost their mid-week Hellenic Premier game 2-3 in a close encounter with visiting Carterton Town on Wednesday evening.

And in Saturday's visit to play this same Oxfordshire opposition yet again, the Cinder Lane team lost out in the first round of the Hellenic Challenge Cup by two goals to nil.

There was, though, better news for Fairford Reserves who defeated Hook Norton 3-1 in the first round of the Hellenic Reserves Challenge Cup in extra time.

This Saturday, Fairford, were who due to entertain Abingdon Utd in a league match last night (Wednesday), are set to visit high-flying Slimbridge on Saturday.

The Reserves will be entertaining Binfield. Both games are 3pm kick-offs.

For next week's mid-week fixture, Fairford first team are away to Bicester on Tuesday evening.
