Swindon signs young speedway star from Sweden

SWINDON Speedway has signed highly-rated Swedish teenager Sebastian Alden as their third teamster for 2005.

The 19-year-old, born in Hedaker on November 7, 1985, rides alongside the likes of Leigh Adams, Tony Rickardsson and Fredrik Lindgren for Masarna in his homeland and finished last season with a flourish in the Swedish Elite League play-offs.

The youngster first appeared in Swedish league racing in 2002 and has developed into a fine prospect, attracting much interest from a number of clubs.

Pebley Beach Robins promoter Alun Rossiter commented:

"If all the reports are to be believed, we have signed a rider rated to be the new Antonio Lindback.

He will start on an assessed average of 4.50 and with three riders now on board, I am delighted with the way the side is taking shape.

"It will be great for Swindon to have such an up-and-coming youngster on board and, hopefully, it will prove a massive bonus for the club.

"I am really quite excited about the prospect of seeing the lad burning around the Blunsdon raceway next March."
