Monster trout is caught at the Watermark Fisheries

THE Watermark Fisheries in the Cotswold Water Park could well find itself having to cope with an influx of anglers looking to catch the 'big one' following the exploits of one enthusiast who landed his biggest-ever fish there recently.

Ray Short, from Whitfield, Northants, spent the day fishing with friends on Horseshoe Lake and caught the largest rainbow trout of his life when netting a 14lb 7oz beauty.

Adrian Davey, who runs the Watermark Fisheries, remarked: "Ray and his friends all caught personal best trout on the same day and were thoroughly delighted with their catches.

"And they went home with the catch to have them smoked and sliced in time for Christmas!

"The fishery is very well stocked with a variety of large trout well into double figures in weight.

"And they thrive on a diet of crayfish that live in the spring-fed lake."

The Watermark Fisheries offers a wide range of angling experiences, from coarse to fly fishing.

It is part of the Watermark Club, which offers people a new way to live life in a unique lakeside setting with a host of leisure facilities, including water sports, sailing, tennis, health and fitness and golf.
