Vienna ballet returns to Cirencester

THE highly acclaimed Vienna Festival Ballet Company returns to the Corn Hall, Cirencester on Sunday, November 7 to perform Coppelia, one of the few true ballet comedies.

Coppelia is a lively ballet, infused with old world charm, which appeals both to ballet buffs and to family audiences who delight in the story, colourful costumes and characters and Delibes' beautiful music.

Dr Coppelius, a toy-maker, has made a beautiful mechanical doll and named her Coppelia. He places her in his shop window and the villagers are amazed by her and even begin to believe that she is real.

Two of these are Franz and Swanhilda and they become embroiled in a comic romp of jealousy and suspicion when Franz is seen blowing kisses to Coppelia.

The Vienna Festival Ballet aims to provide young and talented dancers with the opportunity to perform the great classical ballets around the world.

Doors open at 4.30pm and the show starts at 5pm. Tickets from Cirencester TIC on 01285 654180 and Swindon TIC on 01793 530328 or on the door. Special ticket offer: buy two adult tickets and receive one child's tickets free!
