Corcoran and Devoille goals provide Fairford with all three points

HAVING beaten Henley the weekend before last and gaining a well earned point in a 0-0 draw at North Leigh in last week's mid-week Hellenic Premier fixture, Fairford continued a good run with another victory on Saturday.

Away to Pewsey Vale, a seventh-minute strike from Phil Corcoran gave the visitors a 1-0 interval lead.

And a goal by John Devoille seven minutes after the break provided the Cinder Lane team with another three welcome points in a 2-0 win

Fairford manager Mark Webb was looking for another positive result last night (Wednesday) when the side were set to entertain Bishops Cleeve in the first round of the Norman Matthews Floodlit Cup.

At the time of going to press, Fairford had no match pencilled in for this Saturday.

In fact, they have to wait a whole week for their next game, on Saturday, October 30, when they entertain Easington Sports in the preliminary round of the GLS Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

Having beaten league leaders Wootton Bassett a week earlier, Fairford Reserves continued their winning ways with a 4-1 victory at Binfield on Saturday.

The three points puts Fairford in second place and just two points behind league leaders Carterton Reserves.

However, while Carterton boasts a better goal difference, Fairford have a vital game in hand.

Former table-toppers Wootton Bassett now find themselves pushed down to third spot.nly a point in their six outings.
