KIRSTEN Winter and Chris Peirce, who come to Brewery Arts, Cirencester on Saturday, October 16 have been captivating audiences all over England by the sensitivity and spontaneity of their very diverse material.
They play in every sort of venue from the National Theatre to tucked away village halls but coming to Cirencester is particularly significant for them as it was here, four years ago, that they started their duo career with a residency at the Pizza Express.
For Kirsten it is also a nostalgic return since she grew up in Cirencester and played the violin in the band at the Baptist Church where she gained some experience of playing and singing pop, rock and roll and blues material and where she first began to improvise.
As well as jazz standards, Kirsten and Chris interpret blues, folk and more contemporary music by artists such as Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, Sting and Isaac Guillory.
Described as "one step away from Peggy Lee and 'Fever'" by former Yes and Genesis drummer Bill Bruford, the pair distil great songs into a delicate, spellbinding web of vocals and guitar. Expect an acoustic treat.
The show, which is a fundraising event for Brewery Arts, begins at 8pm. Tickets from the box office on 01285 655522.
Kirsten and Chris's first album 'any day now,' is available from the website www.kirstenwinter.com They are currently working on their second.
