Juniors are taught the art of scoring by buoyant Highworth Town FC

HIGHWORTH Town's pursuit of success in the 2004-5 season of the GLS Hellenic League Premier Division began on Saturday with a visit to Pegasus Juniors at Hereford.

The result, a resounding 9-0 win for Highworth, provided not only clear evidence of their intent for the season but also what is most probably the greatest winning difference in the 50-plus years of the competition.

Pegasus Juniors, living up to their name with a markedly youthful team, were no match for an 'on song' Town who themselves rely heavily upon youth.

After some 20 minutes, Town were 4-0 ahead, a lead extended by half-time to 5-0 and, by the hour, to 7-0.

Two late goals ensured the visitors of their opening victory against a Pegasus side which battled well, but who were eventually completely overrun.

Scorers for Town were Justin Miller (3), Paul Cooper (2), Matt Saye (2), and one apiece for Matt Jack and Ian McSherry.

Highworth manager John Fisher used Highworth's dominance to make a triple substitution by bringing on Knox, McSherry and Sefton for Miller, Terry and McCrae, hence strengthening the experience of premier division football.

Highworth, who were due to entertain Abingdon United in the League last Tuesday evening, are playing hosts to Falmouth Town in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup this Sunday, August 29, 1pm ko.
