Be a cut above the rest for charity

SCHOOLCHILDREN are being offered the chance to face the clippers for Cancer Research UK at the start of the new school year.

The hair-raising event is the brainchild of Witney-based hairdresser Robert Beckett.

With 24 years of experience in the trade, Robert is hoping hundreds of local youngsters from across the region will come along to Cirencester's Corinium Stadium to support the cause.

Robert said: "Cancer has already touched me as both my grandmothers died of the disease and my father survived prostate cancer.

"I hope this will become local hairdressing's tribute to cancer research, becoming bigger and better every year.

"All donations received no matter how large or small will go to the charity." The event will take place on August 31 between 5pm and 9pm, and from 10am until late the following day.

All the hairdressers and organisers involved in the fundraiser are giving their support free of charge, so parents are encouraged to use the opportunity to bring their kids to either of the two days
