FOLLOWING the break for the FIM Speedway World Cup, Swindon Speedway has a busy home schedule in August, culminating in a fabulous double bill of Elite League action against Coventry on August 26.
Prior to that, the Pebley Beach Robins will step up their quest for a place in the all-important play-offs when entertaining Belle Vue on August 12, with Wolverhampton subsequently providing the opposition seven days later.
Then, on Monday, August 23, the Sky Sports cameras will be at the Abbey for the local derby fixture against old rivals Oxford and, as ever, that is sure to provide plenty of no-holds-barred track excitement for fans to drool over.
The double-header then features both the A and B league fixtures against Coventry on the normal Thursday raceday of August 26.
This promises to be a bumper night of speedway, with 30 heats of racing on the agenda! As such, proceedings will start earlier than usual with the parade taking place at 7pm, followed by tapes-up at 7.15pm.
In a real bonus for supporters, admission charges have been fixed at Premier League levels for the occasion as follows: adults £18, OAP/concessions £14, and children £5.
An increased sized programme will also be available on the night and will sell for the normal cover price of £2.
In explaining the decision to run both meetings against Coventry on the same night, promoter Alun Rossiter said:
"The weather hasn't been kind to us this year and it has proved impossible to find a suitable date for the A fixture versus Coventry.
"The added complication is that the Bees have the same Thursday race-night as us, so to run a double-header really is the only way of completing both meetings on schedule.
"We have got 30 heats of racing on the agenda and the admittance charges represent a very good deal indeed for everyone."
In last Thursday night's Elite League match, Swindon Robins defeated Peterborough Panthers 52-44 to win 98-74 on aggregate.
Swindon fixtures are scheduled as follows:
August 12 (home) v Belle Vue (ELB); August 16 (away) v Belle Vue (ELB); August 19 (home) v Wolverhampton (ELB); August 21 (away) v Eastbourne (ELA); August 23 (home) v Oxford (ELB); August 26 (home) v Coventry (ELA & ELB) Double-header; August 30 (away) v Coventry (ELB).
