SWINDON Road Club team Noah Rider and Tim Morris travelled to Nottinghamshire for the third round of the mountain bike national cross country series held at Sherwood Pines Forest.
On a dry and fast course, Morris started at the back of the pack of 30 plus riders in the junior men's category, but was working his way through by the time they reached the first section of single track.
A hold-up by a slower rider allowed a leading group to get clear. At the end of the second lap, Morris was equal 14th with Robert Whenmann from Team Darenth.
But Morris wound up the pace throughout the last lap and, as Whenman was unable to respond, Morris pulled away to gain an excellent 12th place overall.
The Swindon RC was well represented in the south circuit league races held at the Thruxton circuit on Saturday.
In the elites/1/2 race, Swindon's Adam Thomson collected valuable points with a good fifth place, while Robert and Ian Foskett, competing, in the fourth-cat race, came home in eighth and 17th place respectively.
Chris Bishop had the upper hand in last week's club 'ten'. Warm weather and slight wind made for almost perfect conditions, a fact reflected in a number of riders posting personal best times on the Latton circuit. Results are as follows:
C Bishopp 22.40 (PB), R Cowen 23.23 (PB), T Sherwood 23.50 (PB), G Messer 24.06, C Broad-Drake 24.12, M Kent 24.20, M Ackary 24.26 (PB), K Tilley 24.48, J Schwartz 24.52, D Higgs 25.09, M Allen 25.36, C Hall 25.42, R Patterson 25.47, S McCurdy 25.48 (PB), K William 25.58, D Jeffrey 26.14, C Gwyther 26.35, M Murkin 26.49, B McPhail 27.08, R Cantwell 27.23 (PB).
