Good passing and shooting bring win for Malmesbury netball team

MALMESBURY A netball team, who played their final Moonraker League Division One match against Westbury B, started extremely well.

In fact, they led by eight goals at the end of the first quarter, thanks to excellent passing and shooting.

However, the second and third quarters saw Westbury fight back to level the scores.

A tense final quarter ensued and more good passing and shooting in the circle ensured a win for Malmesbury by 32-28.

Sarah Sillars was voted player of the match. Special mention of Elaine Foxall (GK) who has played for the Malmesbury team for many years.

For Elaine and her family are moving to New Zealand later this year and the club wishes them all the best.

She will be greatly missed for her motivational skills and great defending ability.

The club's B also played their final Moonraker League Division Two match which was against Westbury C. Malmesbury had a slow start to the match due to some erratic passing.

But as the game progressed, the players started to play more confidently and more as a team, which was demonstrated by the score.

The final score was a 36-34 win to Malmesbury and Jess Glossop was voted player of the match.

Congratulations go to the whole squad, captained by Carolyn Vincent, for winning the Division 2 League and they will now join the A team in Division 1 next season.
