Brownies make time capsule to mark event

BROWNIES in South Cerney have celebrated the 51st anniversary of their group by burying a time capsule for future generations.

The capsule, a Brownie box containing badges, recent cuttings from the Standard relevant to South Cerney and a picture of the 50th anniversary party, has been placed in the roof of the village hall until the year 2029.

A gold plaque has also been placed in the hall.

Brown Owl Enid Chubb said: "We wanted to mark the anniversary by doing something special, and because the village hall underwent refurbishment last year we decided to do it this year.

"Some of the Brownies may have families when the capsule is opened and will still remember this day."

A party was also held on May 22 enabling the girls to collect various badges including the hostess badge.
