Town CC 1st XI fail to avoid defeat despite a brilliant 105 from Rodrigues

AWAY to Ruardean Hill, Cirencester 1st XI encountered a team in excellent batting form on a good pitch.

Aided by a brilliant catch and stumping by young wicket-keeper Matt Carter, Town all rounder Dominic Jeffcott returned very creditable bowling figures of 5-62.

However, the home team's experienced exploitation of a short boundary enabled them to run up the formidable total of 277-8.

In reply, Cirencester's Goan batsman Donwill Rodrigues scored a magnificent 105 but, despite a valiant all round effort, Cirencester fell 63 runs short.

However, the capture of eight wickets in a high-scoring match ensured the very respectable return of eight points.

Cirencester CC fixtures for this weekend are as follows: Saturday - 1st XI home to Churchdown, 2pm at the Park; 2nd XI away to Corse & Staunton; 3rd XI away to Lechlade; Sunday XI away to Fairford.
