Legendary Bands of the 1960s Playing Cheltenham

THE Spencer Davis Group and The Yardbirds - two great British bands that unquestionably helped to define an era - are on the road again on a massive UK tour, and they come to the Town Hall, Cheltenham on Friday, May 28.

The two legendary bands both broke new ground in the sixties, heralding the British beat boom and the onset of UK psychedelia.

The Spencer Davis Group were renowned for their driving rhythms and gritty vocals while the Yardbirds were one of the great guitar bands of all time, boasting the very best players and a pile of cutting edge hits.

But this new tour isn't just a heritage act.

Both groups sound as fresh today as they ever did, gaining a new legion of fans wherever they play.

Spencer Davis's Miller Anderson has one of the finest rock voices around while Gypie Mayo (ex-Dr Feelgood) has been more than ably filling the Yardbirds' guitar shows of Clapton, Beck and Page.

It has been said that both these acts should be compulsory viewing for any young group today and the current tour, featuring all the hits and lots more besides, promises to show just why.

Tickets from the Town Hall box office on 01242 227979.
