In a campaign which began really well for the Reserves, they were in a healthy league position three-quarters of the way through the season. But last Saturday brought their eighth defeat in a row and the side have ended up mid-table with 49 points.

Nonetheless, it has still been one of their best season's in recent times, On Saturday, they matched Trowbridge Town in the first half, despite going 1-0 down at the change-over.

Within five minutes of the second half commencing, Paul Blanchard put Purton level following a goal-mouth scramble.

But it was a goalkeeping error by Purton that gave the initiative back to the home side who took a 2-1 lead.

Although Purton had a couple of chances to level things, Town scored from a spot-kick to make it 3-1.

Despite battling on, Purton missed out two half-chances that went begging towards the end.
