Sophie Ryder's new sculpture goes on display at Brewery Arts

A FLYING horse has landed in Cirencester's Brewery Arts courtyard.

But its foundations have been firmly laid at the town centre location for the next year and it is already causing a stir.

The life-sized bronze horse is the latest sculpture by world-renowned local artist Sophie Ryder and it was lowered into place by crane on Saturday.

The piece, called Conversation, has a hare and dog sitting on its back, and was officially unveiled at a ceremony that evening.

At two metres high, Conversation which weighs more than half a tonne, will remain at Brewery Arts for 12 months.

The sculpture includes a signature plaque.

* Sophie, who lives near Cirencester, achieved national prominence with her Hare and Minotaur exhibit in Cheltenham's Promenade in 1997.
