Making news in the Cotswolds and North wiltshire this week

PROTESTERS hurled eggs and screamed at Tory councillors when they refused to listen to anger over massive increases in Cotswold parking charges.

The district council's ruling group were accused of 'killing democracy', as tempers flared at a meeting of the authority on Tuesday.

THE streets of Cirencester will be adorned with celebrity artwork this summer as the town becomes a giant art gallery.

Cirencester Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with the Wonderwall Gallery to devise the Cirencester Smile Campaign.

A CHEEKY ferret who snuck into a house in Tarlton for a crafty snooze on the owner's bed has been given a loving home.

As we told you three weeks ago Freddie the ferret, who is about 15 months old, made it past a spaniel dog and two tom cats sitting at the top of the stairs without being attacked.

Jean Lockey was amazed to find the furry trespasser in her bedroom, and still doesn't know how he got past her pets or how he got into the house, because she doesn't have a catflap.

Don't you just love it when a "tail" has a happy ending?

PLUS we've got family tickets to Legoland to be won!

All this and much, much more in this week's Standard.
