Dreaming of a new director

NORTHLEACH-based drama group Dreamtown Productions is looking for a new director to take its success into its next phase.

The group was set up in 1999 to produce Dreamtown 860, a full-scale musical which was staged in the brand new Westwoods Centre to celebrate the millennium.

Sadly, after a long and happy association, the group's professional director, Jacqui Crago, has had to give up due to the pressures of her career.

Dreamtown was the joint brainchild of Sheena Loveday and Adele Rose. Management consultant Sheena was the inspiration behind forming the group while award-winning professional writer Adels created and wrote the musical, including the lyrics to the many songs.

A wealth of additional talent was soon discovered in the town including Elvis look-alike Richard Dyson whose recent success was chronicled on the front page of The Standard.

Since then the group has staged The Italian Straw Hat and a revue entitled Watch This Space, both of which were extremely successful.

A feature of its work has been the involvement of many of the town's teenagers and younger children who have been very disappointed that there can be no production this year.

There is a core group of around 40 dedicated actors and singers, aged from seven to 70, a talented musician and a whole raft of backstage specialists.

All the ingredients are there for further successful shows if only a new director who is capable of staging both full-scale musicals and smaller, more intimate shows can be found.

Dreamtown has also proved to be a huge benefit to the general community, using some of the funds raised by its productions to provide the Westwoods Centre with modern lighting and sound systems.
