FUNDS to build a permanent building for the South Cerney Playgroup have been given a boost.
More than £450 has been donated to the cause after the Cerney Lakes Tennis Club held a Valentine's Day dance.
Fundraising organiser for the playgroup Katherine Isles said: "The village has been fantastic, they have supported us throughout.
"People have organised various events for us and we now have £25,000.
"We are starting to go out to get quotes and also apply for grants to try and get the rest of the funds needed.
"The project recently received planning permission and The Watermark is kindly giving us an architect free of charge, which will save us a lot of money."
The building is expected to cost more than £80,000.
The playgroup, which lies in the grounds of Ann Edwards School, is currently based in a prefabricated building.
Mrs Isles said: "It is not really adequate for the playgroup and is beginning to get a bit run down.
"Rather than purchasing another temporary building which will have to be replaced in the future we hope to have a purpose built brick building." Around 46 children attend the group.
* The Cerney Lakes Tennis Club is holding a 'Play Tennis' day on April 4, at 2pm.
Everyone from complete beginners to budding champions, juniors and adults, will be able to use the courts for free and take part in games and competitions with prizes.
