HIGHWORTH'S rallying mums, Shelly Taunt and her co-driver Julie Murphy, are once again preparing for a long haul north back to Yorkshire to tackle the Northumberside Rally, which is a round of a very competitive BTRDA championship.
And the women will be using almost the same stages as the Kall Kwik Rally which they competed in last month.
On extremely fast stages, the pair are hoping for drier conditions than last time out when they were faced with extremely bad weather.
Although it made driving at speed a little difficult, this did not put the girls off.
Shelly admits, however, that she prefer slightly damp conditions as the car seems to handle better.
Driving their superb Subaru Impreza, the crew will be looking to improve on seeding in a rally covering some 45 competitive stage miles all on gravel against an entry of 180 crews.
Shelly, who has competed on the event twice before, is fairly familiar with the stages.
There are three other crews from the Swindon area that will be completing in the event.
It is going to be a busy couple of weeks for the team as, only six days later, they are looking to travel south of the country to compete in the Tour of Cornwall Rally.
Before then, their car will have to be reset to tarmac specification. For more information on this rally team, log on to www.shellytaunt.com where you can follow the girls' progress.
