A story of love

A NEW Gloucestershire-based group, the Laughing Orange Company, brings its production of a brand new play, Skin Tight, to Brewery Arts, Cirencester on Saturday, March 6 at 8pm.

Based on the poem, The Magpies, by New Zealand writer Denis Glover, Skin Tight is a play about love and the human condition.

Tom and Elizabeth relive their lives spent on a sheep farm on South Island, New Zealand, with an intensity that is akin to the numbing shock of icy water.

Elizabeth is dying, and now is the time of reckoning for her and Tom - their last opportunity to relive and share their most intimate secrets, their greatest passions, joys and losses.

Their bodies and minds yearn for each other as passionately as ever and in these final hours they give of themselves utterly, fiercely competitive and yet ultimately bound by a love that transcends their mortality.

Combining poetry and extraordinary physicality, this is a healthy love story about a relationship that lives and endures despite loss, war and betrayal.

Skin Tight is directed by David Manzi-Fe and performed by Kate Abraham and Bernie Bennett, all of whom come from the Stroud area. The play contains some nudity.

Tickets from the box office on 01285 655522.
