United can have few complaints in losing badly to lively Kidlington

IN last Saturday's home Hellenic Division One West game, Cirencester United were outplayed by a lively Kidlington outfit who took their chances well and thoroughly deserved their 6-1 win.

Things started badly the United hosts when Holden capitalised on a poor defensive offside trap to score with a fierce drive on three minutes.

Worse was to follow when the same player latched on to an error in the centre of defence, only to be felled by keeper Keslake.

It left the referee with no option but to dismiss Keslake and award a spot-kick which Chris Robinson duly saved.

His demise left the ten men of United holding on but rarely able to threaten their visitors' goal.

Graham Robinson, as always, worked hard but was offered little assistance from his team.

The away team's second goal was due to slack marking at a corner that gave Cook a free header at the far post on 35 minutes.

Two goals adrift at the interval, United start brightly after the break before a cross-shot from Quinn on 53 minutes sailed over Robinson's head to make it 3-0.

Holden made it four five minutes later with a fine finish before completing his hat-trick on 64 minutes with a penalty.

In what was the third penalty of this game, Little took the Kidlington lead to 6-0 after 71 minutes.

By way of a consolation, a low drive from Phil Scarlett gave United a more purposeful look going forward and the efforts of Jon Austin were excellent throughout.

This Saturday, United 1st XI visit Old Woodstock and the Reserves are home to Hendon Town, both ko's 3pm.
