Cirencester and District Football League round-up

THE onset of the monsoon season last weekend washed out all but three of the scheduled league matches for Cirencester and District Football League.

Of those that survived, CHQ United recorded their fourth successive league win when they overcame strugglers Corinium Sports 4-3.

Stratton United also had a narrow win over Golden Farm while, in Division 2, South Cerney Reserves put a spoke in Wanderers' promotion wheel with a 2-0 win.

Overall, it proved a bad weekend for Wanderers. For on Sunday they re-played their Junior Charities Cup-tie with Lechlade, which had been abandoned the previous week after they failed to conduct a penalty shoot-out, and they lost it 1-0.

Lechlade will now play holders Fairford in the next round on February 21.
