AFTER the disappointment of losing to Bridgend, Cirencester men first team got back in the promotion hunt with a 9-0 away league victory over luckless Chepstow on Saturday.
Playing in a gale against a poor side, the visitors made all the running in the first 20 minutes - despite travelling with just 11 players.
Even so, numerous chances were made and spurned by the unusual forward pairing of Duffy and Paine.
Town also forced a number of short corners, but were unable to make the home side pay.
On their few forays into their opponents' half, Chepstow were unable to create any shooting chances and the Cirencester defence were untroubled.
The Chepstow goal was breached for the first time when Duffy picked up the ball on the half-way line.
After jinking his way round the defence, he slotted the ball past a hapless keeper.
This settled the visitors and another goal for Duffy and a first from Anstee saw Cirencester finish the half three goals to the good.
Not satisfied with the team's performance, coach Anstee, also standing in as captain for the day, gave much encouragement.
The highlight of the second half saw five goals for top scorer Paine, bringing his tally to a creditable 50 for the season so far.
But for some wayward finishing in the first half, he could have reached this milestone sooner.
The other goal was from Dave Harvey who despatched a first-time shot from the top of the D.
The only blot was a green and yellow card for Latter for clumsy stick tackles. Total employment man of the match was Paine for his half-century of goals.
Cirencester play host to league strugglers Firebrands this Saturday before entertaining high-flying Yately on Sunday for a place in the last 16 of the Hockey Association Trophy.
The push-back timr is 1pm and all support will be greatly appreciated.
