In this week's Standard

* In this week's Standard, we WON'T be sending one lucky couple to a restaurant for a romantic Valentine's meal.

Why? Because we'll be sending a chef and waitress to the home of our lucky competition winner to cook and serve them a sumptuous three course meal, with Champagne and hand-made chocolates.

* A record number of people are banned from Cirencester's pubs as part of a clampdown on troublemakers.

Eighteen are currently banned from licensed premises in the town for bad behavior. Find out who they are and what they've done.

* Melanie Day gave partner Paul Bailey the shock of his life when he got home from work on Friday... she'd had a baby.

The 29-year-old had no idea she was pregnant until seconds before her other half's car pulled up at teatime.

* And anyone with a telly must have seen the trailers for Faking It, the Channel Four show where experts help a novice convince a panel they're experts in an unlikely field.

The trailer concerns London-based cycle courier Woody, who had just a month to learn how to pass as a professional polo player.

His training and final challenge were filmed at the Beaufort Polo Club, and the Standard went behind the scenes to find out how the Mancunian - who is covered in tattoos and piercings, has no hair except a three foot long pony tail, and had never ridden a horse before - was transformed.
