MINETY dominated the second half of Saturday's Dorset and Wilts Division 1 game, but left it too late to overcome the deficit incurred before the interval.
Even so, had an unsighted referee allowed what seemed like a clear try by Minety in the first half, it could have been a totally different story.
Blandford started strongly and took an early advantage following a chip and chase with the game not yet five minutes old.
Their winger was first to the ball and ran it in for an easy try.
Slow getting into their stride, Minety appeared to have equal-ised when prop Stacey Skinner drove over the line for a try.
The referee could not see whether he had grounded the ball, however, and the score was disallowed.
Blandford ended the half as they had begun it, by running in a try. This time, they capitalised on ball spilt by the Minety three-quarters. The visitors came back strongly in the second half.
James Tweedale kicked a penalty goal from in front of the posts and replacement Luke Huckin ran in a try. But it was not enough as Blandford held on to their narrow 10-8 lead.
